In each of these you have demonstrated your usual enthusiasm and aggressiveness to get the job done. These characteristics have endured in spite of the fact that it was a difficult year for you personally. You have been a key member of the R & D Group involved in the transition of the 5300 series scanner from R & D to manufacturing. The redesign the case for hard tooling was a significant effort on your part that contributed to the manufacturing success of the 5300, allowing nearly 50,000 units to be built in the last year. Your work on the 5303 version of the product has been a key factor in the initial success of this scan engine. Your "crash schedule" designs for the 5380 "back of the hand" scanners have been crucial in proving the commercial viability of this product. Other activities you have participated in include: • Supervision of a mechanical designer and a circuit board designer, • Recommendation of additional Sun / Pro Engineer / UNIX PADS 2000 systems, • Participation in the 5303 Product Launch Team, and • Ongoing support of other PSC products. Your support of PSC patent applications is appreciated. It is important for PSC to gain competitive advantage over its competitors through patent protection. Your work with Jim B. and Marty L. on the 5300 decoder / interface board patent will be important to PSC's success in the bar code marketplace. I look forward to your continuing creativity and activity in this area. In addition to these accomplishments you have continued to demonstrate the capability to supervise and "mentor" PSC employees, specifically, Neil M. and Ilya Z.
