Text Box: Details: This is second major Handheld Barcode product I designed for this company. At this point I was Design Manager in the Product Development group, I was a "working" manager where I managed 3 other Mechanical designers and 1 PCB designer and their projects. On this project I designed all the housing components as well as the Molded Optics, I also did rough layout of the PCB/optical platform. This product was to be sold primarily to the retail markets, it still needed to survive a 6ft drop onto concrete floor. Mirrors were plastic injection molded to 1/4 wave flatness in localized areas. Again simple open and shut tooling and easy to assemble. There were 2 other products that we were doing that were based around this image engine. The goal was to get all (3) of these to a very important trade show as well as have quantities that the sales force could have. The result was to build 20 prototype models in record time. The show was a success and my team did a great job!!
